BRD Systems
OUR STORY
In June of 2017, our group first met at the IC to develop an idea for a project proposal. We went through multiple ideas with a focus on search and rescue, eventually settling on working with drones to find people. We worked through September on the actual proposal and after it was submitted continued to work as if we got the grant. This proved to be beneficial so we continued work as normal but were allowed to start buying what we need. Since then, we've worked diligently to hit deadlines, especially for the Mid Grant Technical Review.
The Future
In the future, we will first present at the CU Boulder Design Expo in April and then on MIT campus at EurekaFest in June. We are also hoping to bring this system to the market at some point in the future. The BRD System will be vital in a world wrecked by worse floods and bigger storms to save lives.
A 3-Part System
01
Baby BRD
Baby BRD is a low cost ($30-$50 dollars) beacon for the average citizen. Simply switch the beacon on in an emergency or natural disaster and a Mama BRD will find your location.
02
Mama BRD
Mama BRD is the receiver/transmitter first responders will attach to a drone to search areas recently affected by natural disasters. This component works in tandem with Baby BRD to amplify the signal sent to BRD Nest in order to find lost persons.
03
BRD Nest
BRD Nest is the master computer station where each of the Baby BRD signals are received from Mama BRD to catalog them and give first responders the location of a missing person.
